Fore! Golf Challenges

Random Item Golf Challenge — Rules & How to Play

Before every hole, you draw a random item, club, or rule — and you're stuck playing the entire hole with whatever you get. It's one of the most popular challenge formats in golf content right now, popularized by golf YouTube crossovers like Good Good and Bob Does Sports — the video below is one of theirs. Here's exactly how it works, and how to build your own version in Fore!.

How to Play

1

Before each hole, every player draws or spins for a random item, club, or rule from an agreed-on pool.

2

You have to play the entire hole using only what you drew — no swapping back to your normal clubs mid-hole.

3

Record your score for the hole like you normally would, then draw again before the next one.

4

Lowest total score at the end wins — or, for a more casual version, just see who survives the most holes without picking up.

Play It With Your Group in Fore!

You don't need to wait for a camera crew to try this. Download Fore! Golf Challenges, create a custom challenge deck, and add "random item per hole" as one of your rules — build your own item pool (a wedge, your putter from 150 yards, your weak-side hand, whatever your group finds funniest), then share the deck with your foursome so everyone's playing the same challenge.

FAQ

How do you play the Random Item Golf Challenge?

Before each hole, every player draws or spins for a random item, club, or rule. You must play the entire hole using only that item, club, or rule, then record your score as normal. Whoever has the best score (or survives the most holes without quitting) wins.

How many players do you need for the Random Item Golf Challenge?

It works with as few as two players, but it's most popular as a foursome format, since comparing everyone's random draws hole by hole is a big part of the fun.

Who made the Random Item Golf Challenge popular?

Golf YouTube channels like Good Good and Bob Does Sports have popularized random-item and random-club golf challenge formats, including the crossover video embedded above. Fore! Golf Challenges is not affiliated with either channel — this page is an independent explainer of the format.
